Horst Janssen was a German illustrator who remained true to his technique throughout his life. For him, drawing was not a preparation for a later work, but the work itself. As an internationally renowned artist, he decisively shaped the image of the Hamburg art scene in the 1960s. He was considered intelligent, intense and crazy, and lived excessively. The Horst Janssen Museum in Oldenburg opened in 2000.
